Teach me art!

Can art be taught? Every since I can remember I have always wanted to be an artist. I can remember my brothers being able to draw real well, but my sketches always came out so so. Not only that but I have a brother that is musically talented as well as being able to draw real well. I took 3 months of piano and got discouraged when I wasn't progressing as quickly as I wanted to. So maybe the artistic talent gene skipped me, but can it still be taught to me? If I were to settle down and just bare through it can I one day possess the ability to create? One artist has this to say, "So I believe that art principles can be taught... but principles often aren't enough." A little discouraging to say the least. Oh well I suppose that I will have to continue to look at or listen to and enjoy other peoples art for now.

  1. Look at 'Outsider Art/Outsider Artists', then tell me that these people were put off or discouraged... Art CAN be something you just DO...or taught. Depends where you want to start from...
