Who was Leonard Da Vinci? He was of course a painter, but he was so much more then that. There is a label called a "Renaissance Man" which I believe derived from Leonardo Da Vinci. It means a man of many talents. Leonardo was indeed a man of many talents. his most famous works of course include "The Mona Lisa:
and "The Last Super":
Both of these painting are easily recognized but just about everyone. many people could tell you who painted the pictures and even what the painting is titled. But Leonardo was more then a painter he was also known for his drawings, his inventions, medicine and so much more.

A glimpse at the note book of Da Vinci. Many scholars and would be artist would love to get a hold of this for help and ideas.
His drawings on the human anatomy have opened the door to modern medicine today. Drawings like this one:
Even less known might be Leonardo Da Vinci the inventor. He had help invent military weapons like the three tiered machine gun:
Not to mention his obsession with wanting to fly:

So in conclusion Leonardo Da Vinci was a man of many talents, and worth a closer look, and deep study.

This second one is from the MCA, its a painting from Eric and Heather Chanshcatz and it is untitled portrait of solders in Iraq.
Some of the differences between them are, at the DAM I got to see a lot more artist, and a wider variety of art work. While at the MCA there was not to many artist, however; I did learn more about the artists and their work. When I went to the DAM I had to get more information on line, but there was somebody at the MCA that seemed very knowledgeable about the art work. I liked the DAM for its variety and the fact that it had more art that I enjoy, but I like the staffs knowledge at the MCA. If one can find a piece that one likes that person can learn a great deal about it.
